Education Quizzes

How Education Quizzes can help my bilingual girls

You all know that I am trying as much to raise my girls bilingual although we now live far from mother England and their dad only comes for a couple of weeks every two months.

It is hard especially when I have to make sure they know Romanian well enough to help them in school and nursery. My eldest is Year 1 now and although this is her third year in this country she only started now to think in Romanian. Until about a year ago she was thinking in English, translating in Romanian and only after answer or speak. It must’ve been exhausted for her poor thing. Now she easily starting to move from one language to the other like I do.

Anastasia is a bit young – only 3 and a half – to realise I guess and to her English and Romanian are the same. When we speak to her in Romanian she answers in Romanian, when her daddy or her sister speaks to her in English she answers in English although she has moments when a phrase can contain both Romanian and English.

Although my children will not have to go through the same exams like the British kids I found the Education Quizzes website a fabulous resource for me and for them. We all do them together although Anastasia is too little for them. It’s all fun at the moment but I am trying to teach them as much as I can about the English language and life. For now my eldest, Kara is in a normal Romanian school but we might move her in the future to the Cambridge School in Constanta that works after the same curriculum as the schools in UK.  Or who knows maybe at some point my girls will be keen to move back to UK and they will need to know as much as possible about their country and their roots.

I find the Education Quizzes website as a safe place where I can get the right information because the quizzes are written by teachers and I love the fact that they also made them fun, which is great cause the last thing you’d want is a quickly bored child.

I find the quizzes as a great resource for children and parents everywhere not only in UK and I am already recommending the site to my friends here in Romania. After all the site also has an ESL category. The fee is worth the investment into your children future – £7.50 per month which allows you infinite time on the website. So if you have more than one child is really worth it!

What do you think? Are you going to give Education Quizzes a try?
