Keep the mould away – Meaco10L Dehumidifier Review

Mould. I absolutely hate mould. I remember my poor mum having to wipe the window sills every single day during the winter. If she didn’t the mould will just install on the sills.

The only way we could heat the house during the winter was by feeding wood to a old tradition stove.

I know that english people don’t know what i am talking about so here is a picture:

It was a hard to keep a warm house with it but the mould was even worse.

So now you know why i hate mould so much. This is why i promised myself that i will not let mould affect my life, my house and my kids. Yes the mould can affect your kids as well.

Do you know there is a close relationship between indoor mould, damp conditions and increased

 eye,nose and throat irritation? Plus it can cause coughing and phlegm build-up, wheezing and shortness of breath, symptoms of asthma and allergic reactions.

So to stay away from all this things you need to take action against the mould and get a house dehumidifier. I don’t own a soba anymore and i do have central heating but that doesn’t mean that the mould doesn’t exist anymore.

All the renting accommodation I’ve been to in London had problems with the mould.

One of the reasons being the fact that we had to dry our clothes inside most of the year.

And as we recently moved into our new home when a Meaco 10L Dehumidifier was offered to us to review i was more than chuffed.

Of course during the summer the mould usually stays at bay but as our house is quite a new built there is moisture in the walls, moisture that we need to get rid off before the winter comes over us.

Meaco 10L Dehumidifier is suitable for homes up to 3 bedrooms and apparently it is the cheapest portable dehumidifier in the Meaco range.

So what exactly can this dehumidifier do for you?

It extracts the moisture from the air by creating a cold surface inside the dehumidifier using a refrigerant and a compressor. The fan on the dehumidifier pulls the air in from the room over a filter and onto the cold surface. Condensation occurs and then the water droplets run down the cooling coils into a gutter and then along the gutter and drip down the spout into the bucket ready for emptying.

The dry air is warmed back up to room temperature by the dehumidifier and comes out of the top vent warmer and dryer.

What do you think do you need one?

We used it now for almost a month and here are the pros and the cons.

Pros:

• modern design and nice shape so goes well in the corner of the living room
• as the air comes in the back of the dehumidifier over a dust filter is quite handy for drying waning on a clothes horse;it makes them dry faster
• behind the control panel it has a carry handle so quite easy to move around
• easy to use controls – two soft buttons
• it’s quiet

Cons:

• our house is bigger than 3 bedrooms so it needs to be moved quite often
• although the dump smell gone away in part it didn’t go away completely
