Kids Craft: Make your own head wreath

Kids craft: Make your own head wreath

My girls love wearing any type of crowns or wreaths on their heads so when my eldest asked me if I could make one I remembered the ones we use to make when I was a kid.

Pretty simple if you have coloured paper and coloured crepe paper and of course a stapler.

Kids craft: Make your own head wreath

Materials for one wreath:

  • 2 x coloured A4 sheet – light blue
  • 1/2 meter of red crepe paper
  • 10 staples
  • stapler
  • scissors

Steps to follow:

  • Fold the A4 sheets length wise first in two and then again.
  • Staple the two sheets together so they can form a round. Make sure it fits your child head though. You might need to adjust the length depending on your child’s age.
  • Cut little squares out of the crepe paper and put them on top of each other. I use about 10 for each flower.
  • Staple them on the round paper making sure that you staple them exactly in the middle of the squares.
  • Repeat the process until you have an acceptable amount of “flowers”.
  • Using the scissors cut around the flowers so they have round edges rather than square. You could cut the papers round from the beginning but I am not that good at crafting to do all that. :).
  • After cutting them round also cut the crepe paper length wise at the ends so that it creates a frill effect.
  • Using your hand bring together the leaves so that it looks more like a flower.

They look great and my girls love them. I made one with blue and red for my eldest and one with green and red for my youngest. I love the vibrant colours. They can be great for kids parties!

Tip: Never throw out the scraps of paper. Put them in little plastic bags as they can always be used for other crafts.
