Donna Hay Standby Brownies
I think it’s time for me to share with you my love for this simple and tasty recipe! The recipe is not mine. It belongs to a very inspirational australian chef Donna Hay. I love watching her program Fast,Fresh,Simple on Good Food HD!
Last weekend i baked this for my family and they absolutely loved it!
Ingredients:
- 150g butter
- 1¼ cups (275g) caster (superfine) sugar
- ¾ cup (75g) cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 eggs
- ½ cup (75g) plain (all-purpose) flour
Preheat oven to 160°C (325°F). Place the butter, sugar and cocoa in a saucepan over low heat and stir until the butter has melted. Spoon into a bowl and add the vanilla and eggs, whisking well. Sift the flour over the mixture and fold in to combine. Spoon the mixture into a 20cm-square cake tin lined with non-stick baking paper. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until centre is just set. Cool in tin and cut into squares to serve. On top you can sprinkle with some icing sugar.
Serve as it is or with some nice vanilla icecream. If the cake is a bit warm you will just love it!

Otilia, how do U get them to rise? Do you use baking powder or self-raising flour? xxx

You don’t need any of that. They are good without any of that. They don’t really rise. Try it and you will see. All you have to do is make sure you respect the quantities. X
