Baking: Dark and Rye Flour Bread
As a family we don’t eat a lot of bread. That unless we have toast or eggy bread. But no matter what I always knew that homemade bread is always better than the shop bought bread.
Now that my mother gave me her bread maker too I love experimenting with different kind of breads – the healthier the better.
I tried making a bread by hand too but my kneading skills are not so good I am afraid.
Anyway here is the recipe for Dark and Rye Flour Bread:
Ingredients for around 1000 g of bread:
- 350 ml of water
- 25 g of salted butter
- 1 tsp of sugar
- 270 g of wholemeal flour
- 270 g of rye flour
- 1 tbsp of dry yeast
Now if you are using a bread maker like i did all you have to do is to add all your ingredients to the bread maker, choose the right program/setting and you are go. It takes about 3 hours and without no effort at all you have a great and tasty bread!
Now if you don’t have a bread maker you should probably have a look online at the instruction for the kneading and proving. I found this recipe on BBC Food website quite useful.
We made the bread on sunday and we still have about 40% out of it. I only eat one slice of bread a day because of my diet.
Look out for some more recipes as i promise you this one will not be the last one. Kara is asking for a raisins bread.
Do you bake your own bread or prefer the one from the shop?

I would love to make my own bread but we don't have space for a bread maker and I don't have time to make it. Yours looks delicious!

Looks delicioius! As wheat is not my friend, I would use spelt flour which I love with the rye. I would love you to join my recipe linky #tastytuesdays if you fancied it: http://honestmum.com/tasty-tuesdays-greek-chicken…
