5 Valentine’s Day Ideas for New Parents
Valentine’s is the perfect time to tell your loved one how much you love them and show them how much they mean to you. If you or your partner has recently given birth that might prefer a thoughtful gesture rather than a gift. Here are some of the most thoughtful things you can offer to a new parent on Valentine’s Day that will boast your love and let him or her know how much you care about them.
Let your partner sleep in
Is your partner constantly getting up in the night to provide for your child and then getting up early in the morning to see to your child some more? Being a parent is not easy and can take time to adjust to. Let him or her enjoy a much-needed lie in. The beauty sleep will go a long way and he/she will feel rejuvenated after a good night’s sleep. Your loved one will feel lucky to have a partner who is so thoughtful.
Professional Photograph
You could surprise your loved one by booking to get a professional picture taken of your new-born baby at the likes of Venture . To make it a surprise you could hand them a voucher with all the details including when it’s booked for and how to get there. You can proudly hang the photography of your new-born baby in your family home and send smaller pictures to your friends and relatives who live further away and aren’t able to visit as often.
Cook dinner together
This simple activity will allow you and your partner to have some much-needed quality time – which you may feel you haven’t had enough of recently. It doesn’t need to be anything fancy; once you’ve put your new-born baby to bed, make a simple dish together like spaghetti Bolognese or a fresh tuna salad. Put some romantic music on (not too loudly of course) and dim the lighting to set a romantic atmosphere.
Give your partner some quality time alone
If Valentine’s Day falls on the weekend, it’s the perfect opportunity to give each other a few hours of ‘me time’. Look after your new-born alone for a few hours whilst your partner spends a few hours doing things for her/himself such as going the gym, meeting up with a friend or just nipping to the shops to buy some new clothes. It is important that parents take a break now to keep your relationship on track.
Write a heartfelt letter
Express how you feel about your partner in a heartfelt letter. It’s something he or she can look at when he or she is feeling down in the dumps to remind him/her about how much they are loved and cared about. You could have a go at writing a poem, list your favourite things about him or her, or explain how proud you are of your new family. Words can mean even more when they are written down.
What do you have planned for Valentine’s Day? I will be spending it with my two loves – my girls as hubby is away.

Hi, great post, especially the part about help during the night, God I would love to sleep through the night after a whole year of interruptions 🙂
