Be Inspired By Scandinavian Style This Christmas

When we think of classic Christmas scenes, our minds are immediately drawn to snow, pine trees and reindeer. So it comes as no surprise that Scandinavian styles are inspiring us a lot this year when it comes to decorate our home. It’s the kind of place which doesn’t even have try hard to feel like Christmas.

Pine Tree

Of course, most homes have a Christmas tree in them. However, have you considered embracing pine tree more in your decorations? You can have a Christmas wreath made of out of pine to hang up in your lounge. Or you can tie up branches with red ribbon on the walls.

Alternatively, to add a pop of colour to the green, you could also get some red berries to decorate with as well. This simple, Christmas colour palette brings nature into your house, and immediately gives your home a festive feel.

Wooden Decorations

Following along the tree route, a classic Scandi style is embracing natural woods. For your tree this year, why not consider using some wooden elements in it? One idea that was suggested as a wooden garland, but there are so many different options out there. You don’t even necessarily have to stick to the tree.

To add to the natural aesthetic you could place some branches around the home. Or, if you fancy something a bit more personal you could look into wooden baubles, and get them engraved with your family members name on. This makes the decorations that little bit more special.

Gingerbread House

This can be a tasteful decoration in more than one sense of the word. You and the kids can have so much baking and decorating a gingerbread house together.

You could even make two: one for eating, and one to leave out as a delicious decoration. It will fill your home with wonderful baking scents: nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger. You could make it a yearly tradition and make some precious memories along the way.

Lights

With winter comes darker and longer nights, but then as it’s nearer Christmas time lights start appearing across the country. You can think outside of the realms of a ring of fairy lights for the tree.
