Being in lockdown, it’s unlikely you want to do much more right now than binge-watch Netflix while balancing the kids. The thing is, there’s only so much Netflix you can watch before you get bored. Ideally, you would be in isolation and finding tons of exciting activities to do. As it is, you’re stuck waiting and waiting for this thing to lift while the kids are arguing, and home education has resorted to doing the dishes and teaching them to tidy their room correctly.
It may be a lockdown, and it may suck, but there’s a thing called “Spring cleaning” for a reason. Perhaps right now is the perfect time to get on that! There’s some stuff you can do for a Spring clean where you won’t need the help of professionals, but there are also jobs that will require assistance. For example, carpet cleaning isn’t exactly a job you’d consider calling anyone for when it’s a quick wipe, but for a deeper clean, you need professionals. The best thing that you could do for yourself in this lockdown situation is to make a list of all the jobs that you have spent months wishing you had the time for – and now you do. So, what should you remember to do in this lockdown situation?
Upholstery Deep Clean
When was the last time you thought about cleaning the sofas and the cushions? Most people chuck these into the wash every month, but then others do a quick wipe down and leave it at that! Now is the time to strip everything back and get it all cleaned. With the good weather approaching, you should be able to steam out your upholstery and allow it to dry outside.
Not many people are on their hands and knees and scrubbing the baseboards in their homes, but now is the perfect time to load up with cloths and water and go on the attack. Get your baseboards wiped from the top of the house to the bottom and make sure that you are getting into every corner. You won’t believe the amount of dust that builds up on the baseboards, especially those behind furniture!
Clean Behind The Refrigerator
Speaking of dust build-up, your refrigerator is likely dealing with a thick layer of dust, and there’s not much that you can do about it most of the time. Pull the fridge forward and turn off the plug for the time you are cleaning it. The wall, the baseboards, and the floor are likely covered in a layer of grime, so get it thoroughly washed and use a clean towel to dry it down.
Declutter The Closets
Closets stuffed with clothes and stored boxes need to be sorted through, and what better time to do it than right now? Go through the closets in the house and divide the clutter into piles: charity drop off, sales on Facebook and eBay, and to the dump. Once you clear out the closets, you’ll feel amazing!
