3 Reasons You Need A New Armchair

The armchair is one of the most important elements of a living room, or even a bedroom if you have the space. Much cosier than a sofa, more attractive, and more versatile, the armchair is the epitome of comfort and style. The only problem is that they don’t last forever, and at some stage, you’re going to need to buy a new one. With some beautiful swivel recliner chairs available online, this isn’t such a hardship – in fact, it’s rather fun – but knowing when the time is right to start spending money is always going to help stretch the budget just that little bit further.

Read on to find out just some of the reasons why you need a new armchair. Perhaps it’s time to go shopping for some fantastic new furniture, which means it’s an ideal time to find something that works perfectly for you.

Sunken Cushions

Over the years, and the more use it gets, your armchair is going to lose some of its all-important support, and those plump and comfy cushions might lose their appeal when you find the inner workings of the chair are pressing into your spine and legs.

When this happens, it’s a big sign that you need a new chair. It’s true that you can recover and refill the one you already have, but once the major support elements start to go wrong, it’s often less expensive to buy a nice new version (and it takes a lot less effort too).

Wobbly Wheels

Not all armchairs are on wheels, but if yours is and those wheels are wobbly and causing you to tip all over the place when you’re trying to relax in your chair, you should start to look for a new one.

The last thing you want when you are trying to wind down at the end of a long day is to find yourself tumbling all over the place, spilling your drink, and landing up on the floor. That’s not relaxing, and it’s potentially dangerous. Your chair should be a place of sanctuary, not one that might cause you harm.

Faded Fabric

Nothing ever lasts forever, and even the most beautiful of fabrics and patterns will fade in the end. This is especially true if your chair is in direct sunlight (and why wouldn’t it be? Sitting in your favourite spot and enjoying the sun’s rays is something many people love to do). You might not even realise it has happened at first, as it’s a very gradual change, but if you pull the cushions aside a little, you’ll see the original, much darker, colour and after that, you’ll never be able to un-see it.

When the colours have faded beyond redemption, you can take that as a sign that the chair is old enough to be replaced. Again, you can change the fabric and put a new cover on, but that won’t take away from the fact that the chair is going to be fairly ancient by this time, and despite the new covers, the chair might be unsalvageable.
