The Staples Of Mental and Physical Well-being
You can have a lot in your life, but if you don’t have your physical and mental well-being, then it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to truly enjoy what you have. It’s often only when we don’t have those wellness elements that we realise just how important it is to have them on our side.Â
Happily, humans have gotten pretty good at understanding what they need to be at their best. If you can invest some time and energy into nudging your mental and physical well-being in the right direction, then it’ll pay dividends. Below, we’ll outline some of the key staples. Focus on these, and you’ll notice an improvement soon
Awareness
Being aware of how you feel is crucial. After all, if you’re not aware of how you’re feeling, then you won’t know when you need to take action. This applies more to mental well-being than physical well-being. Your body will send signals that all is not well (think of when you have a cold), and all you need to do is listen. With mental well-being, there aren’t really any obvious clues. You’ll need to look within and assess how you’re feeling: are you happy? Sad? Angry? If you’re not used to this inner inquiry, then look at starting a meditation practice. It can be very good at showing what’s happening with your emotions.Â
Feel Calm and Relaxed
Life is stressful. And while that can seem OK, the fact is that it can have long-term repercussions on both your mental and physical well-being. No one looks or feels their best if they’ve been living with stress for ten years. As such, it’s important to work on feeling more relaxed. If you find it difficult, then look at investing in some CBD, which has been shown to be highly effective at helping people unwind. You can also engage in relaxation activities such as yoga and breathwork, which also help to lower stress levels. Also, don’t forget the power of just lying in the sunshine with nowhere to be and nothing to do.
Avoiding Toxins
You are what you can do, and what you consume. There’s a world of difference between the physical/mental conditioning of someone who smokes cigarettes and drinks alcohol every day and someone who avoids such products. You don’t have to be a complete teetotaler to be at your best, but it’s important to be aware of how those bad-for-you products will impact your overall well-being. To see the full effect, consider giving up alcohol (or anything else) for a month, and notice how you feel once the 30 days are up.Â
Movement
Finally, there’s exercise. This isn’t always something that people want to do, but the fact is that it can make a big difference both physically and mentally. Studies have repeatedly shown that exercise boosts happiness and reduces stress, which is exactly what we all need from time to time. Plus, it’ll just help to keep your body in tip-top condition. Don’t overthink it; just do it!Â
