    Basil Lemonade

It’s no news for you the fact that we’ve declared shop bought juices a war. And well since then we’ve been exploring with home made drinks and you already know how much my girls like lemonade. And so because they do a couple of days ago I tried something different. I went to the market to but some mint to add to our so called sugar free lemonade. But…when I got home I realised that instead of buying a pot of mint I bought a pot of basil. Well…that is not a such a big thing as it was still fresh.   So if you want to make a basil…

    Carrot Cake

It is not the first time I am baking a carrot cake but it is definitely the first time I am really happy with the way it tastes and looks.   This is by far my daughters favourite cake. Every time there is a celebration – birthday, Easter, Christmas etc. – my girls ask for this cake and I can’t blame them really.   The flavour brought by the carrots combine with walnuts and the cream cheese cream is just sublime! I can say that this will be our family cake.   I made this for Easter so its quite a while since then – you will have to forgive…

    Sugar Free Lemonade

Now I did call this a lemonade in the title but this drink actually has more orange juice than lemon juice. However I still consider this a lemonade as the lemon is the one that comes through when drinking it. Ingredients for the lemonade(for about 1l): 2 lemon 4 oranges 2 tbsp runny honey sparkly water to top up First wash and cut the lemons and oranges in half. Using a lemon squeezer and an orange one squeeze the juice out of the fruits in a big enough container. My hubby got me the squeezers below and I love them. They can be found everywhere(Amazon, Dinghams) at the moment and…

    Red velvet cupcakes

I baked these cupcakes a while ago but never really found the time to write about them. But now that we are about to celebrate the orthodox Easter I thought it will be a good opportunity. When I look at the pictures I get the feeling of fresh and spring so if you already celebrated Easter I am sure that you could still bake the cupcakes and decorate them for Spring instead. Well that if you actually see any signs of spring where you are 🙂 Here we still have a lot of rain and it’s still chilli – not at all like spring I must say. 5.0 from 1…

    Meaty Cupcakes

Cooking for a 2 year old and a 5 year old can be hard at times as most of the times one of them will definitely refuse to eat. They never like the same things and usually one of two plates ends up in the trash. As mummy is on a diet…they usually eat differently. However there is one thing we can all eat together – meaty cupcakes! I mean they do eat meatballs cooked in the oven too but changing shape is just lovely for them. 4.5 from 4 reviews Meaty Cupcakes   Print Prep time 10 mins Cook time 25 mins Total time 35 mins   Meaty Cupcakes…

    Zucchini Cake

You probably noticed that I stopped posting as many recipes as before on the blog. Well this has to do with the fact that I change my lifestyle and the way I eat at the beginning of this year and you can read all about it on my other blog http://Goldsprinkles.com But as my girls kept requesting a cake I thought that I should probably make something that I would be able to eat during my carbohydrates day. So like I do these days I turn to my Pinterest account and look for a recipe! I found lots but so many asked for a lot of sugar or thick creams…

    Girly Cake Pops

You are right. It was about time for me to post another recipe wasn’t it? I actually made these cake pops quite a while ago for my eldest birthday but never actually wrote about them. They were made before the Halloween Cakes Pops  which I wrote about here actually a few months. Now I comeback with pictures with these pretty ones. The method I used is essentially the same but I made them more colourful and more fit for a girly party. Ingredients for sponge cake 120g unsalted butter, softened 150g unrefined brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla extract 2 free range eggs, at room temperature 180g self-raising flour 4 tbsp milk, at room temperature…
