    Recently I was invited to a raw food event. Now like me you may be thinking, ‘Raw Food, what steak tartare and stuff like that?” Well no actually it was nothing like that at all. This was all about fruit and vegetables. How to prep them, marinade them, serve them on a plate or make them into a smoothie.  ‘Well, isn’t that just a salad with a fruit smoothie?’ your probably thinking. And you would be right, in a more simplistic and unimaginative way.   • Wholegrain challenge is over but the journey continues

    On the 21st of January I started the Wholegrain challenge initiated by Wholegrain Goodness and promoted by Mumsnet. 50 other bloggers took part in this challenge too. Not sure how they find the challenge but for my family was pretty easy.As I was writing at the beginning of this challenge us as a family try to eat Wholegrain most of the time. Here are my tips for eating more Wholegrain: – if you buy bread replace your white bread with brown;– if you bake yours use Wholegrain flour rather than white;– replace the sugary cereals with porridge;– buy brown rice Instead of white – it takes longer to boil but…

  • Vegetable curry with roasted butternut squash and lentils

    I cooked this dish last week before we started our Wholegrain challenge. As you can see its served with white rice.   Ingredients: 1/2 large butternut squash, cubed 1 cup of green lentils, washed and rinsed 500ml of passata 200ml of chicken stock 1 large sweet onion, finely chopped 4 cloves of garlic, crushed 1 tablespoon of fresh grated ginger 1 tsp of garam masala 1 tsp of cumin 1 tsp of coriander 2 tsp of chilli powder 1 tablespoon of curry powder 2 tbsp of oil salt and pepper to season Start by preheating the oven to 200 Celsius.
