• My baby girl is not longer a baby

You! You are an amazing little lady! Today you officially finished Year 1 here in Romania! You make me feel so proud! And like your teacher was saying a couple of months ago you are a spectacle! Although I had doubts about you handling school here after spending only one year in Romania two years ago you just proved that you are an amazing, clever child! You’ve done better than just handling school. You have amazing grades for a child that did’t even know how to speak properly in Romanian because she was still only thinking in English. You even have better grades than some of your colleagues that…

  • A new beginning

The new school year officially started today in Romania. This day also marked the beginning of new things for my girls. While Kara is starting Year 1,  Anastasia is also starting her 1st year in Nursery. For Kara the start of Year 1 means that she will start to have homework and to be graded. I think it will be difficult for her and it will take a while for her to get used to be graded with Insufficient, Sufficient, Good or Very Good. It is a big step! I am sorry I didn’t take a picture so I can show you her face when she was told that tomorrow and the…

  • Bracknell is not London

I stated the obvious didn’t I? As you know we used to live in South West London until a couple of years ago when me and my two girls moved back for a while to my hometown – Medgidia,Romania. It was a hard move and the transition…oh my…from a busy working life to a “quiet” life as stay at home mum. Well if you are like me you know that life with kids is never dull and boring or quiet is just different isn’t it. So when it was time to comeback and visit daddy (until now he was the one making the trip to Romania) we were all very…

  • Slow life in the park

We are very lucky to live in a small town (in some aspects anyway). This means that everything we need is close to us and no further than 10-20 minutes walk. So as expected the local park is really close too. The park is not as fabulous or as clean as the ones in London but its still quite big and quite enjoyable. Like in any park there are parts that are really busy and parts that are mostly empty and where you can really lay back as a parent and let your kids PLAY. My girls love spending time together and with their friends. And of course I love…

  • Day trip ideas for your elderly parent

As individuals get older, many will think they’ve been everywhere in the UK; but let’s be honest, it is very unlikely that they have. Typically, the elderly tend to want to visit somewhere interesting, where they can develop their knowledge on a particular subject and then pass their knowledge onto the grandchildren. It’s all about appearing wise with older age, right? Below is a list of interesting days out and things to do, which you might want to visit yourself, or suggest to your elderly loved one. Chatsworth House, Derbyshire Stately homes are always a good hit with the oldies. The large grounds contain a maze, sculptures, impressive ancient woodland…

  • My living arrows

Period, depression and moody kids is not a good combination I know. As I said earlier I am struggling at the moment but if it wasn’t for my kids I think I would’ve been even deeper down… My girls had to put up with my moodiness and my screams this week which I regret more than I could say in words. I guess as parents we all go through this kind of moments. The worse bit is the fact that I don’t have someone that can balance me around. I think that when hubby is around it’s a lot easier. The weather was very kind this week though so we…

  • #Parenthood a timeline

    Parenthood – a historic timeline

Being a parent is one of the hardest and most beautiful jobs in the whole world.  Plus very rewarding let’s not forget. Seeing your child smile and thrive is what we all work for let’s face it. However, ever since you tell people about your good news “We are going to have a baby!” the questions start pouring! “Did you decide what you going to do? Are you going to try and give birth naturally or just book for a caesarean?” “Home birth, water birth or hospital?” “Are you going to breastfeed or bottle-feed?” “What type of nappies you want to use disposable or not?” You don’t even have time…
